On September 7, 2021, the first China Digital Carbon Neutrality Forum was held in Chengdu. The forum was attended by representatives from the energy industry, government departments, academics and companies to explore how digital tools can be used effectively to help achieve the goal of “peaking CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060″.
The theme of the forum is “Digital Power, Green Development”. At the opening ceremony and the main forum, the China Internet Development Foundation (ISDF) announced three achievements. The forum also held three parallel sub-forums, including green and low-carbon development of digital technology enabling industries, new leap in low-carbon transformation driven by digital economy, and green and low-carbon new fashion led by digital life.
At the door of the conference room of the main forum, a QR code called “Carbon neutral” caught the attention of the guests. Carbon neutrality refers to the offsetting of carbon emissions from meetings, production, living and consumption by governments, enterprises, organizations or individuals through the purchase and cancellation of carbon credits or afforestation. “By scanning this QR code, guests can neutralize their personal carbon emissions as a result of attending the conference.” Wan Yajun, general manager of trading department of Sichuan Global Exchange, introduced.
“Diandian Carbon Neutrality” platform is currently available for conferences, scenic spots, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and other scenarios. It can calculate carbon emissions online, purchase carbon credits online, issue electronic certificates of honor, query carbon neutrality rankings and other functions. Companies and individuals can participate in carbon neutrality online.

Finally, for a small fee, attendees can go carbon neutral and receive an electronic “carbon Neutral Certificate of Honor.” After receiving the electronic “Carbon Neutral honor certificate”, you can share and see your ranking in the leaderboard. Participants and conference organizers can go carbon neutral individually, and the money paid by buyers is passed on to companies that reduce emissions.
The forum consists of the opening ceremony and the main forum in the morning and the sub-forum in the afternoon.
